Vera Seger was born September 17, 1893 to Hiram and Sarah Seger. She grew up in Cheboygan, Michigan and married at the age of 18 to William Tallman, a fireman, on January 8, 1912. They had three children together. William Tallman died in an accident just two months after the last child was born - on August 24, 1918.

On October 6, 1920 she married Archie Murray in Muskegon, Michigan. Archie must have died prior to the 1940 census where Vera is listed as a widow. Vera's mother Sarah was staying with her at that time. Eight days later Sarah died at the age of 85.

Vera was 78 when she died on July 28, 1972 and is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan.
