Norma was born August 20, 1912 to William and Vera Tallman. She married young to Malcolm McLeod. In March 1930, they had a son William 'Billy' Miles McLeod.

Five years later, Norma married James Frye on March 30, 1935 in Cheboygan. They divorced less than a year later on February 17.

On December 2, 1939, Norma married for a third time. This time to Ohio born James Potter in Steuben, Indiana where Norma was a waitress. They settled in Detroit where James was a paint mixer at a wholesale paint factory. In 1942, they had a son, Burnie 'Bob'.

In 1950, Norma was living in Cheboygan again. Norma died on May 8, 1982. She is buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Cheboygan, Michigan.
