Mary Jane Clark

Mary Jane was the second oldest daughter, but fourth child of James and Jane Clark. She was born in Hinchinbrook on September 12, 1843 as per her baptismal record on August 4, 1844. Mary Jane's death record states November 10th however as her birth date.

She married a widower by the name of Henry James Little in the early 1860's in South Pontiac, Quebec. He had a child from his first marriage by the name of Robert. They lived in that area for several years, then moved to a farm in Parry Sound, Ontario in 1871. In 1877 Henry James and two their six children died from diphtheria. One more daughter was born 19 days later. Mary Jane sent this daughter to live with her sister Hannah in Cheboygan, Michigan and raised the other four girls herself.

By 1921, Mary Jane and two of her daughters - Jennie and Maude had moved to Toronto. Mary Jane died later that year on June 24th of a strangulated hernia. She was buried in Parry Sound two days later.
