Ida Badger


Ida Badger was born to Edward Badger and Etta McGown in Parry Sound, Ontario in 1919. She was the first born of 6 children in the family.

On June 20, 1936 she married a local farmer by the name of Fred West in Parry Sound.

They had six children in Parry Sound before moving in 1948 to the rural area of Charlton in Northern Ontario near Englehart.

There two more children were born. They settled on a farm where they raised their 8 children. Fred died in 1974. Ida moved into a small house in Englehart where she lived many years.

Years later their country road was named after the family.

Ida remarried on November 4, 1992 to a widower named John Linton. He was the father of Mary-Anne's husband. John died in 2012, leaving Ida a widow again. She died on September 30, 2013 in Englehart. She was buried next to Fred West in the Englehart Public Cemetery.


Ida (Badger) West Linton

Ida’s graduation to heaven, to be forever with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, occurred September 30th, 2013 at the North View Nursing Home with family by her side. She is now free from pain and in eternal bliss with God.

Predeceasing Ida was her first husband Fred West, her second husband John Linton and son Bill West. Also predeceased, her parents Edward and Henrietta Badger, three brothers, Alf, Jack and Dan and one sister Winnie Bartlett.

Ida will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Shirley Rock, Nancy (Jim) Strood, Jim (Norma) West, Fred (June) West, Jean, (Wallace) Matheson, Mary-Anne (Albert) Linton and Bob (Sharon) West. Her step-children Albert (Mary-Anne) Linton, Randall Linton, Ralph (Jessica) Linton, Detlor (Gail) Linton, Florence (Rob) Soderberg, Marion Linton and David Linton and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and one sister, Betty Pender.

Ida was a kind, loving and wonderful wife and mother and her passing will leave a large void in the lives of her family. She will be greatly missed. She has left her family with an abundance of happy memories. One such memory is the yummy lunches she packed for picnics on the farm. Another was the homemade bread, hand made socks and mittens and the jams, jellies and pickles that she made every summer, also the famous macaroni casserole.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McDonald Funeral home. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2nd, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Baptist Church in Englehart on October 3rd, 2013 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Englehart Wheelchair Bus fund or the North View Nursing Home activity fund will by greatfully appreciated.
