Uarda MacPherson was born in 1919 to RT MacPherson and Alma Coutts Detlor. She had an older brother named Detlor. When she was just 8 years old her father died. Her mother later remarried to Milton Irvine, but for many years she was raised by a single mother. Though she likely had some support from her MacPherson grandparents who lived nearby.

In 1944 she married John Linton and settled with him on the old Wimhurst Family farm west of Englehart.

Together they had 7 children. Uarda died November 23, 1991 and was buried in the Ingram township cemetery.
