Detlor Darius Joseph MacPherson was born April 28, 1916 and raised in Dack Township just outside of Englehart, Ontario. He was the first born child of RT and Alma Coutts Detlor.

Detlor's father died in 1927 when Detlor was only 11 years old, and his younger sister Uarda was only 8.

Detlor married Julie Minerva Hansman in Englehart. Together they managed the family farm from 1944 until their deaths. When Julie died, their son Milton took over.

At the age of 69, Detlor died on July 18, 1985. Julie was 77 years old when she died on December 11, 1992. Both were buried in Englehart Public Cemetery.
