Ted William Harrington


Ted William Harrington was the son of Harold and Lois Harrington. He was born in 1942.

Ted served the community as a police officer for 27 years in Muskegon Heights and later in Kentwood where he retired from the deparment as a sergeant. He also worked part time as a Court Baliff in 2006 and served four years in the United States Air Force.

Ted married Susan. They had four children - Pattie, Paul, Brian, and Molly.

Ted died after a seven year struggle with Alzheimers on January 5, 2014 at the age of 71. He was survived by Susan, his four children and eight grandchildren and his dog Amber. Susan died on August 1, 2014 at the age of 72.

Ted William Harrington, aged 71, of Byron Center, was welcomed into his heavenly home on Sunday, January 5, 2014, after a seven-year struggle with Alzheimer's. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lois Harrington. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Susan; children, Pattie (Joe) Reynolds, Paul (Wendy) Harrington, Brian Harrington, Molly Harrington (fiance, Matt Dore); grandchildren, Steve, Rachel and Haley Reynolds, Megan and Drew Harrington, Nicholas, Brendan and Benjimen Harrington; brothers, Jim and Al Harrington; sister, Susan (Ron) Meissner; sisters-in-law, Marta Romkema and Cheri Perez; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Bill Parmalee; and man's best friend, Amber the dog. Ted proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He started his career in law enforcement in Muskegon Hts. and retired as a Sergeant from the Kentwood Police Department after 27 years of service. Ted loved serving his community and helping others. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa who loved to watch his children's and grandchildren's sporting and school events. Ted was an avid sports fan and golfer who loved antique cars and watching the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming with Fr. Mike Alber presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church on Thursday from 6-9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
