Harold was the last child born to Blaine and Estella Harrington. He was born on April 20, 1918. He grew up in Chester and Muskegon Michigan.

In 1940 Harold was an attendant at a Gasoline Filling Station. He married Lois Mae Wright that year on August 31. They had four children - Ted, Jim, Alan and Susan.

Lois died on March 5, 2001 just a few months short of their 60th anniversary. Harold died February 17, 2005 at the age of 86. He was the only child to outlive his parents.
