Jack H. Pelton


Jack H. Pelton was the only child of John and Ethel Pelton. He was born in 1904 in Michigan. The family moved a few times, including some time in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and North Carolina. The settled in Knoxville, Tennessee where Jack attended high school.

Jack married Martha M McLemore prior to 1930. On the census, they were living with Martha's parents. Jack was listed as a Domestic Traveler for an Engraving company. Martha was a teacher at a private school. In the 1930's they had two children - John McLemore Pelton and Susan Pelton.

In 1940 they were renting a small house at 4829 Chambliss Street in Knoxville for $40 per month. Jack was a water department inspector for the City Water Works. Martha was a chief social worker with the W.P.A. They were each making about 1800 per year.

Jack might have lived until 1984, and Martha until 1996.
