Jennie Vance McRoberts was born on August 4, 1878 to William and Elizabeth McRoberts in Parry Sound, Ontario.

On January 11, 1911 she married Bert Nelson. Jennie was a teacher at the time, Bert was an engineer. Jennie and Bert had no children.

Jennie died on October 4, 1937 in Port Arthur, Ontario where they had lived for several years.

Nelson, Jean Vance (McRoberts) The News-Chronicle; Port Arthur, Ontario; 4 October 1937; page 1 Mrs. Bert Nelson Dies in Hospital Mrs. Jean (Jenny) Nelson, 58, wife of Bert Nelson, 282 North Algoma Street, who was burned and suffered injuries to her back several weeks ago when she slipped and upset a large kettle of scalding water on herself, died in hospital this morning. She had been a resident of Port Arthur for over twenty-five years, coming here from Parry Sound. Mrs. Nelson was a member of St. Paul's United Church. Besides her husband she is survived by her mother and three brothers, Allan, John and Luke McRoberts, all of Parry Sound.
