Ronald Joseph Evert Palmateer was the second child of Herbert and Ethel Palmateer. He was born on June 14, 1926 in Englehart, Ontario.

On his 24th birthday, Ronald married Esther Toye. They had eight children - Barb, John, Randy, Joe, Bill, Richard, Sue and Shirley.

For over 20 years Ronald worked for Trans Canada Pipelines.

When Ronald died of Leukemia on May 5, 2015 he left behind his wife, eight children, 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was the last of his siblings to die.

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ronald Joseph Evert Palmateer at the Englehart Hospital after a lengthy illness with leukemia.

Dearly loved husband of Esther (Toye). Cherished father of Barb Watkins (late Brian), John, Randy, Joe (Jackie), Bill (Joan), Richard (Pam), Sue (Ralph Ellerton), Shirley Cook (Barry). Loving grandfather of 22 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Ethel (nee MacPherson), brother Roderick, and sister Beth Williams (late Richard).

Ronald and Esther would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on his 89th birthday on June 14, 2015. Ronald worked for Trans Canada Pipelines for over twenty years. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, love of family, and his passion for his 700 acre farming business.

The family of the late Mr. Ronald J. Palmateer will receive friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart, Friday, May 8, from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Englehart on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Val Paterson officiating.
