Doris Jean McElmurry - obituary

Doris Jean (Dickinson) McElmurry. November 29, 2013. Age 80.

Formerly of Birmingham and Clarkston. Born in Detroit on October 2, 1933 to Thomas and Doris (Fuller) Dickinson, she was raised in North Rosedale Park and was a graduate of Redford High School. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She was public relations director of United Foundation of Detroit and Kelly Services before opening Dobbin House Antiques in Clarkston.

Dearest mother of Michele (Steve) Fecht, Karen (Michael Goslin) McElmurry and Tom McElmurry. Beloved grandmother of Clara, Laurel, David and Dillon. Doris was passionate about history, books, antiques and her beloved dogs.

Her family asks those who wish to remember her to consider a donation to their local library or a dog rescue shelter. The family extends its gratitude to the staff of Clare Bridge of Farmington Hills and Seasons Hospice whose extraordinary care and compassion allowed Doris to live her final years with grace and dignity. A service will be held at a later date.
