Marilyn Nishi-Gormely, PT, CMLT, graduated with a BS in physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin in 1968. She came to the Big Island in 2012 from Sonora, CA, where she owned an outpatient PT clinic, Sierra Physical Therapy, for 25 years. The caseload was extremely varied: orthopedic, neuro, pediatric, hand, lymphedema, women’s health, golf enhancement, total joints, work comp etc.

Her past experience includes hospitals, rehabilitation centers, pediatric centers, and Easter Seal Society. She has taken the “Back to Golf” classes and taught golf enhancement classes with a golf professional in California. Recently, she taught several pelvic rehabilitation classes at Tutu’s House in Kamuela, HI.

She enjoys helping her patients improve to their maximum potential, and has a strong emphasis in teaching her patients about their condition and giving home programs for optimum improvement.

Lymphedema: She is certified in the LeDuc method, and has over 9 years of experience in Lymphedema Management, which includes: manual lymphatic drainage; decongestive therapy, multi-layer bandaging, fitting for compression garments, and self-management training for the patient.

Women’s Health: She has over 15 years of experience in Women’s Health – Pelvic Rehabilitation, helping women improve conditions of pelvic prolapse, stress and urge incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction; and pelvic pain conditions, and has experience in biofeedback training for these conditions.

She has 3 children and 1 grandchild who live on the mainland. She loves living on the Big Island and enjoys swimming, snorkeling, golfing, standup paddling, traveling, and Facetime with her grandson. She is a member of the APTA, National lymphedema network, and International continence society.
