Frederick "Charles" Linton was born in Gloucester, England on April 7, 1887. His parents were Albert and Thirza (Davis) Linton who had a total of 9 children.

As his mother died when he was only 6 years old, his father remarried to Julia Matilda Miles, and had 4 more children.

On April 9th, 1907, he left Liverpool, England on board the S.S. Mongolian headed for Canada with 913 other people including crew. The trip typically took 32 days. After he landed in Halifax, he headed for Toronto where he settled near Port Perry for a year or so. After migrating to northern Ontario, Charles and his brother Arthur settled to farming east of Englehart.

On December 25th, 1912, Charles married Ethel Wimhurst on her parents near-by farm. They had three sons. Albert Linton (1914) died in infancy, but Tommy Linton took over the family farm, and John Linton settled on the Wimhurst farm.

Charles died on February 24th, 1960 and is buried in the Englehart public cemetery.
