Blaine and his twin sister Elaine were born on June 24, 1915 in East Jordan, Michigan. Elaine died on their first birthday.

In September 1916 they moved to Flint, Michigan, and later to Chester and then Muskegon.

Blaine married Geraldine Ross in Muskegon on June 28, 1941. He was working as a bar tender at the time, while she was a clerk. They had two children - Robert Ross Harrington who died at the age of three, and Diane Lee Harrington.

Blaine was a member of the Elk Lodge, and the East Lawn Reformed Church. At the time of his death he was working as an Assembler at Clark Sanding Machine Company.

Blaine died at the age of 33 on January 27, 1949 from a three week illness.
