John Conrad Sills was a German immigrant to the United States who joined the British cause and settled in Canada at the end of the war.

Originally known as Johannes Conrad de Sell, he was born December 15, 1738 in Rotheu Bergen, Assenberg Co., Germany to Johannes Casper Sell and Anna Elizabeth Koch.

In 1764 he married Anna Maria Amey. They had five children before Anna died in 1780.

In 1777 he fought with Butler’s Rangers. At the age of 55 he married a 22 year old Sarah Blanchard in 1790 in Fredericksburgh, Ontario. They had 9 children in the next 20 years.

Conrad died in 1816 at the age of 77.
